1. CASE STUDY- ALCHEMIST:


PROJECT : RECYCLING OF SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT TREATED WATER

PRODUCT : 150 KLD WATER TO BE REUSED IN HVAC & FLUSHING
INDUSTRY: HOSPITAL
LOCATION: PANCHKULA, HARYANA

BACKGROUND
Hospital is located at Panchkula Sector 21; sewage generation is approx. 150 KLD (including Liquid biomedical waste).
For LBMW, ETP of 40 KLD is installed for disinfection and TSS removal, outlet of ETP will mix with sewage water in equalization tank for biological treatment.

General Scheme:

  • The wastewaters from the domestic utilities are collected in the collection Tank 
  •  One 16 mm followed by one 6 mm manual screen shall be supplied at the inlet of equalization tank to remove the debris. The equalization tank should be equipped with diffusers for homogenizing the influent sewage.
  • The equalized wastewater will be pumped through 2MM punched whole fine screen to the MBR System. This System is a packaged unit with common Bioreactor tank, Membrane tank and Dip tank. The Dip Tank is partition made in the Bioreactor tank for cleaning of the membrane modules. The permeate from the MBR system will be discharged in a treated water tank.
  • From the treated water tank we have installed a softener unit for recycling.

2. Saragarhi Sarai Sri Amritsar (RESIDENTIAL)

Location : Sri Amritsar, Punjab
Technology : Advanced Moving Bed Bio Reactor (MBBR) Technology with MBBR Bio Media Followed With Ultrafiltration Unit

BACKGROUND:
Saragarhi Sarai is located at Sri Amritsar; sewage generation is approx. 100 KLD

General Scheme:

  • The wastewaters from the domestic utilities are collected in the collection tank
  • 2 Nos of automatic rotor inclined bar screens of suitable in size to remove the foreign particle with having provision for lifting arrangement shall be supplied at the inlet of

               Equalization tank to remove the debris. The equalization tank should be equipped

               with diffusers for homogenizing the influent sewage.

  • The pre-screened sewage will be treated with an anoxic tank followed by efficient and compact biozone AMBBR (Advanced Moving Bed Bio Rector) requiring minimal power input and maintenance to reduce the Ammonical nitrogen carrier dissolved organic load. It is an aerated moving bed system combined with a secondary clarifier. Biological de-nitrification & oxidation will happen in these reactors. The rotating media is free-flowing with the required MLSS growth in and around the bio media to consume the active dissolved oxygen injected by air blowers, with higher surface area and net hydraulic lift. The dissolved and suspended organic load shall be oxidized and decomposed by the active bio-mass and thereby reducing the output BOD and COD
  • The Final Settlement is a tube settler clarifier for the sedimentation of solids & residual of MLSS in the form of sludge. Tube settler is the best-suited clarifier to decant the flocculated solids in the form of sludge. This cross-current entry method reduces the risk of disturbing previously settled solids. As the liquid flows upward, the solids settle on the inclined, parallel plates and slide into the sludge hopper at the bottom. The clarified liquid leaves the tube assembly through orifices or weirs at the top, and the underflow is removed from the sludge hopper or sludge tank below the unit, and usually dewatered prior to disposal.
  • The pressure sand filter (PSF) is used as tertiary treatment unit to trap the trace amounts of solids which escape the clarifier, and can typically handle up to 50 mg/l of solids in an economical manner. This unit is essentially a pressure vessel that is filled with graded media (sand and gravel). The water filtered with PSF is passed on to the next stage in the STP chain: the Activated Carbon Filter
  • The filtered water will then be pumped from chlorine contact tank to a membrane column of specific grade to reduce suspended load, colloidal particles, turbidity, BOD, colours, odour and fine particles. It finally polishes the treated water and also reduces the residual chlorine. The wastewater so treated can be utilized for recycling in flushing. The backwash from the UF units will be fed back into the collection tank

BACKGROUND:
NEW GENERATION APARTMENTS is located at Zirakpur; sewage generation is approx. 100 KLD

General Scheme:

  • The plant is designed for receiving raw sewage and settling & screening of the heavy floating particles. There will be a primary bar screen chamber to screen the foreign particles followed by an oil trap to trap the oil contents therein.
  • The pre-screened sewage is treated by means of an efficient and compact Anoxic cum Biozone SBMR (Surface Booster Media Reactor) requiring minimal power input and maintenance. It is an aerated moving bed system combined with a secondary clarifier.  The rotating media is free-flowing with the required MLSS growth in and around the bio media to consume the active dissolved oxygen injected by air blowers, with highersurface area and net hydraulic lift. The Biozone is self-cleansing but a sludge recirculation pump will pump out the excess MLSS to the solid disposal pit. It is a modular single skid-mounted unit complete inbuilt with a central control system
